AKAISCAN
64-SLICE CT SCAN
Our VCT light-speed 64-slice CT scanner is the fastest available and gives 3D colour images with greater definition than has been available in the past, and can therefore be used for cardiac studies including angiography, full body scanning (preventive screening) and virtual colonoscopy in addition to regular CT scanning.
TYPE | DESCRIPTION |
---|---|
BRAIN | Screening for stroke or brain tumour, Vascular imaging, Surgical planning, CT Angiography |
CARDIAC/VASCULAR | Heart CT, Coronary artery calcium scoring, Coronary Angiography |
CRANIAL/FACIAL | Facial trauma, Sinus disease, Dental imaging, Jaw disorders |
CHEST | Lung disease, Chest wall abnormalities, Mediastinal masses |
ABDOMEN | Liver disease, Kidney stones, Abdominal masses, Trauma |
PELVIS | Gynecological disorders, Prostate disease, Bladder abnormalities |
SPINE | Back pain, Disc disease, Spinal stenosis, Trauma |
EXTREMITIES | Joint disease, Fractures, Soft tissue masses, Sports injuries |
ULTRASOUND
Ultrasound imaging uses sound waves to produce pictures of the inside of the body. It is used to help diagnose the causes of pain, swelling and infection in the body's internal organs, and to examine a baby in pregnant women and the brain and hips in infants.
TYPE | DESCRIPTION |
---|---|
ABDOMINAL | Liver, gallbladder, pancreas, kidneys, spleen, aorta |
PELVIC | Uterus, ovaries, prostate, bladder |
OBSTETRIC | Pregnancy monitoring, fetal development, gender determination |
CARDIAC | Heart structure and function, valve assessment |
VASCULAR | Blood flow in arteries and veins, DVT detection |
BREAST | Breast lumps, cysts, tissue evaluation |
THYROID | Thyroid nodules, goiter, inflammation |
SCROTAL | Testicular pain, masses, varicocele |
MUSCULOSKELETAL | Joint pain, tendon injuries, muscle tears |
X-RAY
X-ray imaging is the most common form of medical imaging. It uses a very small dose of ionizing radiation to produce pictures of the inside of the body. X-rays are the oldest and most frequently used form of medical imaging.
TYPE | DESCRIPTION |
---|---|
CHEST | Lungs, heart, ribs, pneumonia, heart failure |
ABDOMEN | Bowel obstruction, kidney stones, free air |
SPINE | Fractures, degenerative changes, scoliosis |
EXTREMITIES | Fractures, arthritis, bone lesions |
SKULL | Head trauma, sinus disease, dental issues |
ECG
An electrocardiogram (ECG) is a simple test that can be used to check your heart's rhythm and electrical activity. Sensors attached to the skin are used to detect the electrical signals produced by your heart each time it beats.
TYPE | DESCRIPTION |
---|---|
RESTING ECG | Standard ECG while lying down, heart rhythm assessment |
STRESS ECG | ECG during exercise, coronary artery disease detection |
HOLTER MONITOR | 24-48 hour continuous monitoring, arrhythmia detection |
ECHOCARDIOGRAM
An echocardiogram is a type of ultrasound scan that uses high-frequency sound waves to create an image of the heart. It allows doctors to see the heart beating and pumping blood and provides information about the size and shape of the heart and how well the heart chambers and valves are working.
TYPE | DESCRIPTION |
---|---|
TRANSTHORACIC | Standard echo through chest wall, heart structure |
STRESS ECHO | Echo during exercise, coronary artery disease |
TRANSESOPHAGEAL | Detailed heart imaging through esophagus |
MAMMOGRAM
A mammogram is an X-ray picture of the breast. Doctors use a mammogram to look for early signs of breast cancer. Regular mammograms are the best tests doctors have to find breast cancer early, sometimes up to three years before it can be felt.
TYPE | DESCRIPTION |
---|---|
SCREENING | Routine check for women without symptoms |
DIAGNOSTIC | Investigation of breast symptoms or abnormalities |
BONE DENSITOMETRY
Bone densitometry, also called dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA), is a test that measures bone density. It is used to diagnose osteoporosis and to assess the risk of fractures.
TYPE | DESCRIPTION |
---|---|
CENTRAL DEXA | Spine and hip measurement, osteoporosis diagnosis |
PERIPHERAL DEXA | Wrist, heel, or finger measurement, screening |
We will continue to offer advanced diagnostic procedures, which will improve the quality of your health care.
